The last four weeks have been an exciting and busy time at Saikou HQ. Our creative team have been working hard to develop our next couple of drops. We have had some big news on a future collaboration which we can’t wait to share with you. We’re currently ironing out the details and will let you know specifics nearer the time; but it is going to be a revolutionary drop for us, and you won’t want to miss out! Today we are introducing you to a new series we’ve been working on with our new designer : a stunning t-shirt based around the Tarot card theme.
A true savant for traditional Japanese art we wanted to allow him the space to explore his style in an engaging series with a lot of opportunity to flex his knowledge of the mythology and his artistic skills.
Challenge accepted and SAIKOU : ARCANA was born!
The first card we took on was ‘Death’. Death (XIII) is the 13th trump or Major Arcana card in most traditional Tarot decks. It is used in Tarot card games as well as in divination. The card typically depicts the Grim Reaper so our designer reimagined it with a Japanese Oni. When the card is used for divination it is often interpreted as signifying major changes in a person's life and doesn’t mean the physical death or somebody or something. It implies an end, possibly of a relationship or interest, and therefore implies an increased sense of self-awareness and potentially a new beginning.
What is Arcana? Arcana means secret or mysteries. Arcana is basis for the tarot card pack; of which there are 22 Major Arcana – accompanied by 56 minor arcana suited cards.
Over time we hope to expand on this incredible collection and eventually give you a full range of Major Aracana that you can wear!
The limited run of the first Ts are with us now and we are super pumped to be launching these next week. We only have 100 available in the first drop with each one coming individually packaged and containing a collectable tarot card in the bag! We hope that the addition of bundling collectables with our products will give you another awesome piece of Saikou merch to own outside of our apparel.

It's honestly been so much fun developing a concept that started out as an enthusiastic discussion about an employees interest in tarot cards right up to a the birth of a new collection.
